Lie With Me

Collaborative objects and live performance with Jia Gao.

These objects act as a playscape that begs for interaction and relaxation. As women, we have been taught to engage in social dynamics of giving, tolerating, and softening. Thus, we challenge the viewer to conform to the objects' rigid curvatures and materials by performing the monotonous and multiple possible iterations ourselves. The intimacy that their visual softness and stiff materiality teaches us is oddly human, gaining energy and activation through our touch.

Wood, reed, latex paint, velvet.
